Currently, breast cancer is the most frequent cancer in Spanish women, considering that one in every 10-13 women will suffer from it.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, it is one of the types of cancer in which medicine has advanced the most in terms of early diagnosis and treatment.
The importance of early diagnosis consists in diagnosing clinically asymptomatic women, before the nodule is palpable (considering that most cancer cases are curable in this instance) by means of self-palpation, breast examinations in the Annual gynecological control (with complementary studies if required) and regulated screening with mammography and\/or breast ultrasound from the age of 40.<\/p>\n

It is an X-ray of the breasts that has the capacity to diagnose benign and malignant lesions even before they are clinically palpable.<\/p>\n
Screening protocols are subject to modifications according to the gynecologist’s criteria and the patient’s risk factors.<\/p>\n
In case of suspicion of some type of pathology (nodules, microcalcifications, etc.) additional tests would be requested, ranging from images (CT, Magnetic Resonance) to more invasive methods such as PAAF (Fine Needle Aspiration Puncture) , Corebiopsy for histological study, and surgical tumorectomies.<\/p>\n
